Welcome to Good Medicine Home Acupuncture
We've moved!
You've reached the website for Good Medicine Home Acupuncture. Since 2010 we have been providing Fort Myers and the surrounding area with the most convenient way of getting acupuncture possible: house calls. While the convenience was great for some, the cost kept many people from being able to afford to see us enough to really get better. In an effort to make acupuncture accessible to as many people in Fort Myers as possible, we're excited to announce our new clinic location: Fort Myers Community Acupuncture!
Yes, we still do house calls, but the vast majority of our existing patients have been very pleased to come to our new location. The main reason: affordability. At our community acupuncture clinic, we charge on a sliding scale of $15-$45, with no income verification. You just pay what you're comfortable paying, so you can come in often enough to really start feeling better!
Our sliding scale is there to separate the issues of money and treatment. We want you to come in often enough to get better, and our $15-$45 scale makes that possible.
Acupuncture works best when done regularly, in fact it is not uncommon for patients in China to get treatment daily until their issue is resolved. Depending on your condition and its severity, we may recommend anything from treatments twice a month to daily. With rates for a single treatment ranging from $65-$150 here in the states, such treatment is far too expensive for all but a very few. We are changing that so anyone can afford to come often enough to see real results.
We treat in a group setting. Our patients relax fully clothed in comfortable recliners in a quiet soothing community treatment room. We believe that treatment is more effective in a group setting, similar to how a full restaurant, church, or karate class feels better than an empty one.
Our current rate for house calls is $125 per visit. Generally, you should plan on a minimum of four visits to start seeing some lasting results. Many people feel better after their first treatment, but it usually takes a few sessions before lasting relief is achieved. Most visits last around an hour, with the initial visit being about 15 minutes longer. Please wear loose fitting clothing that can be rolled up above the elbows and knees. Also make sure you've had something to eat within a few hours of your appointment. Having acupuncture on an empty stomach can have unpleasant side effects like nausea and fainting.
For both the community clinic and the home visits, questions about privacy often come up.
For the community clinic, all patients remain fully clothed, and interviews are conducted either chair-side in quiet voices, or in our back office if the patient is more comfortable there. Follow-up appointments rarely require more than a "How're you doing since last time" before needles are put in and the patient is left to relax.
With home visits, privacy is usually left up to the patient's comfort level. Some prefer treatment around their family, others prefer a more private setting. For safety reasons, we do ask that any pets that would want to jump up on the patient during treatment be put in another room.
